July 7, Fri, 6pm – Don Middlebrook with Rush Clement
Join us in B-Rad and Miriah’s backyard (3141 S. 145th Street, New Berlin) to share some great music, fun and friends. $15 per person, BYOB and chair. Back by popular demand, Don Middlebrook joins us with guitarist Rush Clement bringing “Tropical Music to Feed your Soul”. The Trop Rock Music Association’s 2015 winner of “Songwriter of the Year” and “Album of the Year” with Songs from Talespin Bay returns with his latest album release, Guitar Island.
You already know Don, but might not know these things about him: He is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Trop Rock music. Don has toured extensively and recorded with Greg ‘Fingers’ Taylor (Jimmy Buffett’s harmonica player of 26 years). He is a favorite at Meeting of the Minds in Key West and has even headlined the Street Festival there. Winner of the “I Can” award for charitable work, Don continues to give to the community and has been a good friend to all Parrotheads (especially MAPA) and our causes. For more than 25 years, he has blazed a trail of over 175 tour dates per year all across the U.S. writing songs along the way to share his adventures and observations with us.
July 23, Sunday Brunch – James “Sunny Jim” White
A return performance and Sunday Brunch will be hosted by MAPA Pres. Jeff Meyer (and Robbin – 5269 S. 100th St., Hales Corners). $15 per person, BYO Chair and snack. MAPA will provide all the goodies for a great Bloody Mary Bar.
We were fortunate to catch Sunny Jim on a trip to the Midwest and book him for MAPA. One of the most talented steel drum and guitar players ever, Sunny Jim brings an Island State of Mind to every song he plays. After writing and recording in Nashville for many years, he took his music to the Cayman Islands and played as the artist-in-residence for 12 years at the finest resort. His song “Blame it on the Rum” is featured and he has a cameo in the hit Tom Cruise movie ‘The Firm’.
Sunny Jim’s experiences from exotic places all over the world are ever present in his award winning songs. That, and his charitable work in support of Parrotheads everywhere, make him a favorite in high demand for Parrothead events, large and small, across the globe.
